WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY BENEFITS?

Here are the Five Steps the Social Security Administration uses to determine if you are disabled:

Are you working?

If you worked the calendar year and averaged more than a $1180 a month in earnings you typically will not be considered disabled. We can assist you to determine if this step will disqualify your case.

Is your condition severe?

To be considered disabled, your condition must impede you from doing basic activities required to perform your previous job. Proper documentation and evidence are critical for this step. We can work with you and your doctors to convey the severity of your condition.

If the Social Security Administration decides you cannot do the work you did before, they will consider your ability to do other kinds of work. Your age, education and work experience will all be factored into this consideration.
